Cold Day Recovery it was

Welcome to Sunday!!

Yesterday I had to pick between an envelope for "Warm Day Plan" or "Cold Day Recovery Day Plan" (from my boyfriend) for my birthday celebration... and the verdict went to....

So what were the choices anyway? 'Warm day' was a day of hiking in Point Lobos, south of Monterey, CA and 'Cold day' was a day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (I'm definitely an outdoorsy kind of person...) and both ended with a fancy dinner. It was not too nice when I opened the cards so I chose the Aquarium. We had a great time of exploring the ocean and its inhabitants. We had been talking about going but never got around to going so it worked out. And we took a lot of pictures!

I know all raw foodists love this pic! I do! (haha)

It's a seahorse!!

It was grand. And so cool! I have not been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium since I was probably 8. The best things there were the jelly fish. Cool stuff.

Then, later, Sascha (that's boyfriend's name) took me to California Cafe to have a fantastic dinner to celebrate the big 2 5.

Appetizers of Spicy Tuna Poke with pickled cucumber, avocado, micro greens, wonton chips, and sriracha sauce
And Grilled Petite Lamb Chops with cucumber, tomatoes, and cilantro yogurt sauce (boyfriend's choice)

My dinner was Seared Scallops wit truffled mushroom arancini, haricot vert, and a beurre blanc sauce and two glasses of red wine.

Boyfriend had the Butcher Steak with potato croquette, balsamic grilled tomatoes, drizzled with a balsamic wine reduction and a beer.

No dessert at the restaurant... I just can't seem to stay away from raw desserts. They are so much more healthy and amazing tasting that I would rather have the raw ones than a white sugar, flour, fattening dessert.

To sum it up, it was a great birthday.

Gosh it has been awhile since I went to an Aquarium too, and I went this past January with my best friend and it was fun. You notice things when you are older. Glad you had a great birthday! : ) The food looked yummy...and I agree nothing beats raw desserts.
